Cherry Keeper Chasity Device Review

While looking for a light-weight plastic or resin chastity device to wear during my long-distance training runs, I came across the Cherry Keeper chastity device by Josielynn’s Body Jewellery. I first heard of these devices while reading posts on a male chastity web forum I follow. There were plenty of positive reviews there on the Cherry Keeper from satisfied wearers.

I followed a link to a site called Shapeways, where the Cherry Keeper devices are sold, to do more research. I was very impressed with what I found on the site, a wide selection of 3D printed chastity devices in a wide variety of bright colors made of nylon plastic with a smooth finish. With LJ’s approval, I ordered one to take a test drive.

Intro

In only a little over a week, the Cherry Keeper arrived in my mailbox. I found the design familiar, much like that of other ball-trapping devices I’ve worn, so there was no learning curve necessary.

I ordered my Cherry Keeper in blue, but as mentioned, there are lots of colors to choose from, including basic white. The device seemed well made, and the nylon material felt satisfyingly strong. Before putting it on, I assembled the cage to the ring and found the device has a consistent gap all around, which I like.

The finish on my device is referred to by the manufacturer as “Processed plastic,” which is best described as something like the exterior texture of an eggshell. The company also offers “Premium plastic,” which they say still has a slight texture, but is glossier and slipperier, meaning the skin will glide across it with less resistance.

For the most part, I found the “Processed Plastic” smooth enough. I actually liked the “grippy” feel of the texture. Concerning the ring, no doubt, the texture helps prevent any ball slippage problems. But, after wearing the device while running the first time, I found the surface of the ring rough enough to produce some mild chaffing. I’d read about that in reviews by other wearers in the chastity forums, so I knew exactly what to do. About ten minutes of sanding with 600 grit wet sandpaper made a world of difference. I didn’t sand it until completely smooth, just smoother than it came out of the box. So, I still retained some of the “grip.”

Depending on a person’s personal preference, a little sanding might be in order or a lot. I expect some people will like the grip while others will prefer smooth.

Meet the Cherry Keeper

Small Cherry Keeper

As stated, the Cherry Keeper is a standard ball-trapping device that comes in two parts.

1. Base ring

2. Open-style nylon cage.

The base rings are literally available in any size. If you need a size that’s different from the many standard sizes offered, you can contact the designer, JosieLynn Jewell, and she promises to fix you up with whatever size you need.

I went with an ergonomically shaped, 50mm ring, which is larger than I typically wear with steel devices. I assumed because of the lighter weight, I could get by with a larger base ring to gain a little more comfort. Turned out I was right. The 50mm ring works great for me and keeps the device right up against my body. There is a wide selection of base rings to choose from, both with regard to shape and size. Double base rings are also available.

I went with the basic small cage design, but here also, multiple styles and sizes are available. I feel safe in saying that the Cherry Keeper is available in a size to fit almost anyone.

The Cherry Keeper is sold a little differently than you may be accustomed to. Instead of ordering the device as a complete unit, you must purchase the cage and ring separately. Also, these devices do not come with locks, which must be purchased separately.

Still, once you’ve ordered a base ring, cage, and lock, you will find that the cost is very reasonable, especially when compared to custom-made chastity device prices. And, in my opinion, with all the sizing options available, the Cherry Keeper is virtually a custom device. Prices vary based on the size, color, and finish selected, but as an example of the prices, I paid $23.95 for the cage and $16.95 for the base ring. That’s around just forty bucks for a solid, well-made chastity device.

According to the designer, the Cherry Keeper was designed for and works best when using an integrated magic lock. I had a cheap one that came with another micro chastity device I already had, and that is what I used with mine when the device first arrived. But, the lock is cheap and gets a bit cranky at times, so I ordered a quality Burg Wachter ME/2 integrated magic lock from Steinlock.com for $25.00.

However, not everyone wants to lock up with an integrated magic lock. Thus, the designer also offers other multiple locking options. Add-on kits are available at an extra cost that gives the options of using a standard small padlock or an Abus padlock. There are also options available for locking up with single-use plastic locks in three different styles. For the hardcore chastity enthusiast, there is a “Permalocker” option also available for the Cherry Keeper, a lock that can only be removed by those daring enough to use a power drill in uncomfortably close proximity to their manhood.

Fit

I won’t take the time to regurgitate all the sizing options which can easily be referenced on the Cherry Keeper website. Instead, I’m only addressing fit using the measurements of the device I ordered.

My device has an inside diameter of 35 mm, a depth of 35.4mm, and a ring to cage gap of 8.0 mm. The cage length is 45.9 mm (1.81 inches), and the total assembled length is 59.7 mm. I get a comfortably tight fit inside the cage with the tip of my penis against the end of the cage, though there is a small “turtling” effect since the cage is a bit shorter than my flaccid length.

While the designer does provide some tips on measuring for a Cherry Keeper, I found using the measuring guide at Mature Metal worked great.

Comfort

Once I did the minor sanding mentioned previously, I have found the Cherry Keeper to be without a doubt, the most comfortable chastity device I have ever worn. That’s saying a lot since I’ve had the opportunity to wear quite a few different devices since I started with chastity, though all the others have been steel devices.

Once I have it locked on, I’m not even aware I’m wearing the Cherry Keeper. It’s that comfortable. In fact, if it was up to me, the Cherry Keeper would be my permanent chastity device. Unfortunately, it isn’t up to me. LJ insists on a stainless steel device for general 24/7 wear. She only allows me to wear the Cherry Keeper for running, which was the agreement we made when she allowed me to order it.

Security

Security may be the Achilles heel of the Cherry Keeper. While testing it, I found that if I pushed down on the top of the base ring with a thumb so that it was away from my body, roughly parallel to the floor, I could then use a finger of my other hand to work my flaccid penis out of the cage and the ring with only minimal effort.

Once my penis was out, it wasn’t very difficult to get my balls out of the ring and the locked device completely off. In fairness, I wasn’t able to get the device back on without unlocking it. So, without access to the key, had I been escaping to cheat, I would have been forced to confess it to my keyholder. The Cherry Keeper is the first chastity device I’ve tried that I was able to so easily escape from.

That said, male chastity is a powerful fantasy, and one of the biggest fantasies of all is the notion of finding the inescapable chastity cage. While it may sound simplistic, stereotypical, and maybe even a bit primal, the truth is the typical male is always looking for his next orgasm. That is part of the appeal many of us guys find in submitting to having our dicks locked in a chastity device and giving control of our orgasms to someone else. The fact that the male sex drive is so strong is why it is often so important that we perceive the chastity device as being impenetrable.

But, for anyone who has been in chastity for very long, we know that no device, especially, no ball-trapping device without incorporating a body piercing ring can be made impenetrable or escape-proof. Any guy who is determined enough and has little fear he will suffer an injury can inevitably find a way to escape from any chastity device. When you consider it, there is no chastity device that is one-hundred percent secure. So, we might say the Cherry Keeper provides a little less of the illusion of being escape-proof than many of the other devices I’ve tried. How much of a problem that is, depends on the individual.

As I’ve said many times on this blog, I’m not the escape and cheat type. I want to be kept in chastity, and I honor my commitment to my keyholder and to myself. When in place, the Cherry Keeper does the job when it comes to preventing me from easily touching my penis for pleasure and stops me from masturbating. That meets my expectations and requirements.

But, for a guy who can’t trust himself not to cheat, the Cherry Keeper might not be a good option. That is unless a body piercing is incorporated into the mix. Given the open design of the Cherry Keeper cage, I think that could be easily accomplished with the use of an external Prince Albert piercing ring lock. But, in the final analysis, without a piercing, the Cherry Keeper isn’t very secure on its own. That’s the opinion of a guy who has found the steel devices I’ve tried quite secure with a properly sized ring and gap.

Hygiene

Hygiene, something I won’t compromise on, is where the Cherry Keeper truly shines for two reasons. First, the open design makes keeping things clean a snap. Using a handle-held showerhead, I’m able to give the cage contents a very thorough cleaning. The other thing is the spacing of the bars at the end of the cage means urination isn’t a problem. I can easily stand and pee normally while wearing this device. I’ve even used it standing at a public urinal without any errant spraying or dripping issues. Still, the crossbars are close enough together to prevent the tip from slipping through. Thus, I give the Cherry Keeper top marks in the hygiene category.

Recommendations

Overall, the Cherry Keeper is a quality-made device that does adequately perform the function it was designed for. I just can’t give it my unreserved recommendation because of the ease of escaping from it while locked.

Still, it performs like a champ for the purpose I wanted it for, something light-weight and comfortable for long-distance running. For me, the easy escape issue isn’t a real problem since I’m only allowed to wear the device for running and am then required to switch back to my permanent, more secure stainless steel device.

I have no affiliation with Josielynn’s Body Jewellery or Shapeways. I purchased the reviewed device using my own funds, and this review represents my own honest opinions.
